Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap: Calgary ekes out win over Winnipeg with big game from Coronato

The Calgary Flames looked to get back into the win column after they turned a near victory into a certain defeat against the Edmonton Oilers. The Flames welcomed the Winnipeg Jets to the Saddledome to continue more preseason action.

Things didn’t go well to start as the Jets were up early, but by the time it was the second intermission, the Flames erased a 2–0 and 3–1 deficit. At one point they were up 4–3 but the Jets also answered to tie the game heading into the final frame. Neither Jacob Markstrom nor Connor Hellebuyck had good goaltending outings, but it was a rougher game for Markstrom as the Jets didn’t have particularly high shot volume compared to the Flames.

In the third period, rookie Matt Coronato notched his third point of the night by scoring the game-winning goal. It’s looking more and more like there’s simply no way Coronato won’t be on the opening night roster at this point. He’s had a stellar preseason and is currently second in the league in preseason points.

Charts from the game are below.
