Notes

An easier view of the roster by groupings is below:

A few interesting notes:

  • Jonathan Huberdeau, Elias Lindholm, and Yegor Sharangovich are skating together on Team Vernon. Could this signal an opening night top line?
  • Rasmus Andersson, MacKenzie Weegar, Noah Hanifin, and Nikita Zadorov are skating together on Team Vernon. Could this signal opening night defense pairings of Weegar-Andersson and Hanifin-Zadorov?
  • Chris Tanev and Oliver Kylington are skating together on Team Iginla. Perhaps they will be reunited as a pairing this season.
  • Jacob Markstrom and Dan Vladar are skating on team Vernon. Looks like Vladar is being penciled in as the backup, as expected.
  • Team McDonald is essentially all prospects who won’t sniff NHL minutes, however this group includes Jeremie Poirier who is dealing with an injury.
  • Walker Duehr and Connor Zary are skating on Team Vernon and will get lots of looks with premier NHLers.
  • Kevin Rooney is also on Team Vernon.
  • William Stromgren is on Team Iginla with mostly NHLers. This should allow Flames brass to see how he stacks up with high quality teammates.
