Calgary Flames select Yegor Yegorov 176th overall with 2023 sixth-round pick

The Calgary Flames picked up their second Yegor of the week drafting Yegor Yegorov, a Russian goalie playing out of the MHL in 2022–23 with their 2023 sixth-round pick. He also has arguably the best name in the draft.

Yegor Yegorov player profile

Yegorov was born on August 30th, 2005 in Moskva, Russia. As a 2005 birthday he’s one of the youngest players in the draft. He weighs in at 183 lbs (83kg) and stands at 6’3″ (190 cm).

Yegorov has spent his entire hockey career in Russia thus far. This recent season he made the jump to the MHL, Russia’s junior league. In 15 games for MHK Dynamo Moskva Yegorov posted a solid .915 save percentage and 9-4-0 record.

The Flames go back to the Russian goalie well with this pick as they’ve done over the last couple years. Yegorov is incredibly young and has good size for a goaltender so this will be an interesting one to watch over the next few years.
