The Calgary Flames welcomed back Juuso Valimaki to the Saddledome as a member of the Arizona Coyotes to make it yet another former Flame returning in recent games. The Flames turned to Daniel Vladar once again in net and he was sharp throughout the game.
After a dreadful start where the Flames had nothing going for them and shots were 7–1 in favour of Arizona, the Flames turned it around and scored two goals in the second half of the period. However, over the course of the game, the Coyotes came back to tie it up. In the face of localised adversity, the Flames responded and scored the game-winner on a power play.
Calgary displayed both a good response to a bad start and a good response to a blown lead. Ultimately, they got the win and the much needed two points in an already excruciatingly tight Western Conference.
