The Calgary Flames are continuing to battle in the basement of the league for a better draft position. This is the single most important goal of their final few games as there’s still a lot of variance in the possible final NHL standings.
As fate would have it, many teams around them in the standings would win while the Flames lost to the Los Angeles Kings. One team clinched their playoff berth, the other is 2–8–0 in their last 10 games with a reasonable chance of getting the fifth-best lottery odds by season’s end.
