The Calgary Flames prospects have been shining very brightly at the World Juniors Summer Showcase over the past week, and Flames fans are very excited. The Flames lead the league with eight prospects at this tournament. Ethan Wyttenbach, Carson Carels, Cole Reschny, and Theo Stockselius have all stolen the headlines. All four have had great tournaments, but who has impressed the most? We asked, you answered.

Carson Carels
Carels was not shy about playing a big physical game at this year’s summer showcase. In fact, it is something that excites him.
Carels is a two-way defenceman who can play this type of physical game. That’s something the Flames will love once he is on the roster. Carels was not the first offensive option this time around on the backend, as that is something that Daxon Rudolph specializes in, but it seemed like that wasn’t much of the focus for him anyway. The big focus was playing a strong two-way game, and that will only get better as time goes on.
Cole Reschny
Time and time again, it seemed like Reschny was one of the best players on the ice for Team Canada. This team consists of players who were drafted above him, but he was consistently relied on as a top centre for this team. For a team that also includes Brady Martin and Caleb Desnoyers, this is a big win for Reschny. Look for Reschny to be a top centre for this team come World Juniors time.
Theo Stockselius
Another success story is Stockselius. Before this tournament, fans didn’t even have him as a top prospect for this team. He has really impressed this past week and looks to have moved his way up to the top 10 list for Flames prospects. He was one of Sweden’s best players, contributed to the score sheet, and was fantastic at winning puck battles. His skill and physical play have developed greatly, and it will be incredible to see just how far he can take his development.
Ethan Wyttenbach
Continuing right where he left off in the NCAA, Wyttenbach just might have been the best player in the whole tournament. It just looked too easy for him every game. Consistently finding the back of the net or finding his open teammates for grade-A chances, Wyttenbach looked like a superstar every game. It’s already well known that the Flames found a diamond in the rough for Wyttenbach, but what’s left to discover is how good he can really be. Did the Flames find themselves a future superstar in the fifth round?
World Juniors will be must-see TV
Flames fans will want to pay close attention to the World Juniors this year. If there is anything that these four players have shown us in particular, it’s that the future is looking very bright. The Flames may have the top centre on Team Canada and Sweden, the top winger on Team USA, and a top defenceman on Team Canada. There may be many Flames prospects playing key roles on many teams in this tournament.
