Calgary Flames recall Walker Duehr from the Calgary Wranglers

The Calgary Flames roster moves continue on Thursday morning, signalling potentially more decisions to come.

After placing Adam Ruzicka and Nick DeSimone on waivers Wednesday, the team has recalled Walker Duehr from the AHL.

Duehr, who recently was put on waivers and cleared just a week ago, returns to the Flames roster to potentially stick long-term.

A disappointing year

After breaking into the NHL last season and getting off to an amazing start, Duehr has struggled to stick in the NHL this season. He has been the 13th forward for most of the 2023–24 campaign and only has appeared in 19 contests. He only registered one goal and four assists—a far cry from expectations.

During his time in the AHL, he registered an assist in two games but now has the opportunity to stick with the team long-term. If Ruzicka is claimed on waivers, this gives the team some forward flexibility but also would allow them to send him back down to the AHL should Jakob Pelletier be closer to an NHL return.

It was surprising to see him not claimed last week, but more fuel to the fire for Duehr to make that be a one-time event for his career.
