The Calgary Flames re-call Jordan Oesterle from the Calgary Wranglers

Continuing with their defence corps adjustments, the Calgary Flames have re-called Jordan Oesterle in advance of their November 29 morning practise. This call-up comes three days after the Flames re-assigned Nick DeSimone to the AHL.

Oesterle’s AHL performance

At the start of November, Oesterle was sent down to play with the Wranglers in exchange for DeSimone. Now it looks like the two are rotating roles again to close out the calendar month.

Oesterley has featured in 12 AHL games so far with the Wranglers, and has racked up zero goals and eight assists in that span. His overall statline this year includes 19 shots on goal and one penalty as well. This was Oesterle’s first taste of the AHL since the 2016–17 season when he last appeared in 44 games with the Bakersfield Condors.

His best game coincidentally came against the Condors on November 14, where he notched two assists in the Wranglers’ 6–3 victory.

Oesterle’s spot in the lineup

Oesterle will likely slot back in where he was in October, playing on the third pairing. So far this season, Oesterle’s most common 5v5 partner has been Dennis Gilbert, followed by Nikita Zadorov. He’s also had limited minutes with Chris Tanev. Unless an injury is announced, Oesterle likely slots in as the seventh defenceman, with the three pairings remaining the same.
