Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 77: Another third period comeback keeps Calgary in the wild card race

As the Calgary Flames got their game against the Anaheim Ducks underway, the worst start that could have happened did. In a must-win game, the first shot Jacob Markstrom faced went into the back of the net. Before the end of the first, the Flames were down by two goals. All of this happened while the Winnipeg Jets were running away with their game against the New Jersey Devils.

However, the Flames roared back in the second period to score three straight goals and get their first lead of the game. But as the Flames do, less than a minute later the Ducks tied it up, and a few minutes after that, the Ducks restored their lead. For the second time in as many games, the Flames went into the third period trailing and needed to find a way to win.

And they did exactly that.

Two goals in the third turned the tied in Calgary’s favour and they were able to capture a big regulation win. After going 75 game without a single third-period comeback victory, the Flames just got one in overtime the other night against Vancouver, and now another one in 60 minutes. Oh, and it’s their first four-game win-streak of the season.

The drama for the wild card will continue. Hang on tight.
