The Calgary Flames went from being utterly embarrassed to start their quick two-game road trip to California to immediately closing it out with a bit of a revenge win. After letting in eight goals—something the Flames haven’t done in over three calendar years—they rebounded by keeping their goals against down and instead found offence of their own.
In all three periods, the Flames scored early, including within the first minute in each of the first and third periods. Their urgency was a big factor as they generated both decent shot volume but more importantly shot quality. And surprise, surprise, it worked.
