Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 22: A blowout game powers Calgary past Panthers

With Matthew Tkachuk‘s return to the Saddledome, it’d be one of the most anticipated games of the season for the Calgary Flames. Not to mentioned the team would be rocking the Blasty alternate jersey as well for the cherry on top. The Flames desperately needed to get back on track after finishing the road trip on a low note. And they did just that.

While the two teams were somewhat matched in terms of overall shot attempts at all situations, the difference maker was that Dan Vladar was on his game and stopped the shots that made it to him, while Sergei Bobrovsky was leaky and had several goals against he’d want back. Three first period goals put the Flames up ahead early and they’d never cede the lead, ending the game with a final score of 6–2. Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar both picked up points—Tkachuk did not.

The Flames sweep the season series over the Florida Panthers and will look to string together another win with a game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
