The Calgary Canucks are heading back to the AJHL final for the second straight season after defeating the Drumheller Dragons in a four-game sweep.
With the Calgary Flames now out of the playoff picture, let’s turn our attention to some great junior hockey in the city that is in the midst of a championship run.
The defending champion Canucks look to secure their second AJHL championship in a row and their 11th in franchise history. Their opponent? The Grande Prairie Storm, who are storming through the playoffs and have remained undefeated, winning eight games in a row.
This season, the Canucks have a record of 4–2–0 in six meetings against the Storm.
Players to watch
The Canucks lead the playoffs in scoring with 45 goals, led by former Storm player Luc Trevors, who has seven goals and is currently the top scorer of the playoffs.
Next up is point leader Bowden Singleton, who leads the league with three goals and 12 assists. The Canucks captain is set to make his first finals appearance with the team after missing the second half of the playoffs in last season’s cup-winning run.
For the Storm, Alec Hall leads his team in goals with six, and Calgary product Kaiden Bugera, who has 12 points in eight games this postseason.
Between the pipes, it’s a showdown between two top goaltenders: Canucks’ Lukas Renaud, who holds an undeafted 8–0–0 record, a 0.915 save percentage, and a 2.52 goals-against average.
In net for the Storm is Calgary-born goaltender Nicholas Jones, who has led the league in the playoffs with a 0.929 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against average. Jones has also gone undefeated with a 7–0–0 record.

The team has been working hard this past week to prepare the arena for the 2025 Centennial Cup. They have installed a video board at the south end of the rink, added the Centennial Cup logo to centre ice, and completed several other enhancements.
The 2025 Centennial Cup is coming to Calgary from May 8 to May 18 at the Max Bell Centre. The host Calgary Canucks will welcome the nine league champions from the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
With the host Canucks in the finals, the Grande Prairie Storm will be the AJHL representative in this year’s tournament.
