We are in the final stretch of the season, and the Calgary Flames are fighting for their lives to secure the second wild card spot. Fresh off a massive win against the New York Islanders, the Flames have 13 games left in the season. Each game is massive, and the playoff race is as tight as ever.
The Flames are just two points back from the second wild card spot with two games in hand. However, they are also seven points away from being 10th last in the league. With how tight the standings are, where do you think the Flames will finish? We asked, you answered.

A playoff spot
It looks like many readers have hope that the Flames can find a way to make the playoffs before the season ends. After a humiliating loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Flames have bounced back with three straight victories, two of them being gutsy comeback wins.
It’s quite an impressive turnaround for the team and should give them good momentum and something to build off of during this final stretch of the season. Huska might have to take a page out of Ted Lasso’s book and put up a “Believe” poster in the locker room to keep the team going.
Just miss out
Now, wouldn’t this be the most Calgary Flames thing to happen? Not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to get a top 10 pick. Flames fans know all too well what it’s like to find out during games 80 to 82 that the Flames have been eliminated from playoff contention.
This would be the worst-case scenario, in my opinion. Naturally, lots of readers also believe this will be the outcome for the team.
11–13th last
Not many readers believe this will happen for the Flames, but the Flames are not far off at all. The Flames are six points away from being 11th last and are four points away from 13th last. With still a decent number of games to play, this is not out of the realm of possibilities, and if the ping-pong balls bounce in the Flames’ favour, maybe they can keep their first-round pick—it’s unlikely in this spot, but who knows.
Bottom 10 finish
This would be a gut-wrenching outcome for a team that seems so committed to securing a playoff spot. The only positive from this outcome is that the Flames would keep their first-round pick and would be able to draft a solid young player in the upcoming draft.
After all the adversity this team has gone through and the incredible goaltending that Flames rookie Dustin Wolf has given them all year long, it’s no secret that if this is the outcome, it would be heartbreaking for the players.
Final stretch
The Flames still have a chance to prove everyone wrong from the beginning of the season and get themselves into the playoffs. They will have to keep fighting and treat every game like it is their last, but they are not out of it yet.
