Yegor Sharangovich returns from injury, expected to lineup for the Calgary Flames tonight

The Calgary Flames had some good news in regards to Yegor Sharangovich this afternoon. The Flames announced that Sharangovich has recovered from his injury and has been activated from the injured reserve.

Sharangovich returns

In the final preseason game for the Flames, Sharangovich took an awkward fall and left the game injured. It was announced shortly after that he had a lower-body injury. He was placed on injured reserve with a week-to-week tag on his injury. This caused him to miss the first seven games of the regular season for the Flames.

Sharangovich was the main asset in the return for Tyler Toffoli. He was one of the Flames’ best offensive players when hot this prior year. Last season, he had a breakout year with the Flames scoring 31 goals and 28 assists for 59 points in 82 games. These were career-highs and national records for Sharangovich in all categories. His 31 goals led the Flames, with Blake Coleman being in second with 30. In the offseason, this performance inked Sharangovich a nice five-year extension worth $5.75 million annually.

With Matt Coronato being assigned to the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL, the Flames roster stood at 22 players. Now, Sharangovich being activated sets it to the maximum of 23. The Flames are set to face the Winnipeg Jets at 5 p.m. MT tonight and the expectation is Sharangovich will play his first game of the season.
