Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap: A half-ready Calgary team controlled by the full-strength Oilers squad

In Calgary’s second-last preseason game, they opted to rest their best players and get some of their younger players on the ice. At best, all four lines would be bottom-six players, but even then, it’s a big stretch to say all four lines consisted of NHL players at all. That’s what preseason hockey is for anyway. However, they faced a full-strength Edmonton Oilers that boasted their best players.

Suffice it to say, things didn’t go well for the Flames. Despite being tied 2–2 after the first period, that was the last of the Flames offence. Going scoreless in the final 40 minutes, they instead allowed five goals against to turn the game into a very lopsided affair. The Flames will look to rebound for their preseason final against the Winnipeg Jets.

Charts from the game are below.
