After a drubbing of the Vancouver Canucks, the Calgary Flames were right back at it with a split-squad pair of games against the Seattle Kraken. Split-squad games are generally great for seeing whether prospects on the cusp can step up to make a memorable impact in limited minutes. For the Flames, it was a chance to see many players in game situations to see who’s settling into the preseason and who looks poised to take the next step. Of course, having played the night prior, tired legs weren’t to be discounted.
That said, the two teams battled it out and split their two games—the Kraken took the first by a score of 5–3 while the Flames eked out a 3–2 shootout win in the later game. Of major note, Jakob Pelletier was injured and will have to be reevaluated.
With it still being preseason, here are the available charts using the current data for both games.
