The Calgary Flames opened the 2023–24 preseason with a game against the Vancouver Canucks. While the preseason means naught and the outcomes are more about getting game-ready for the regular season, it’s impossible to deny that the Flames didn’t look good.
The team looked like they were playing a much smoother game all night long, and their looks were going in and going in often. Matthew Coronato had himself a night with a hat trick plus an assist, four other players had a three-point night in various combinations of goals and assists, Jonathan Huberdeau looked like his pre-2022–23 self with two goals, and Jacob Markstrom and Oscar Dansk combined to shutout the Canucks.
Overall not a bad way to kick off the preseason.
With it still being preseason, here are the available charts using the current data.
