Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 53: Calgary offense surges in blowout win over Sabres

After a limp game against the Detroit Red Wings a few nights ago, the Calgary Flames faced the Buffalo Sabres in a Saturday afternoon matinee.

Things didn’t start off well, with the Sabres jumping out to an early 2-0 lead. They scored two goals on three shots in the first period, but the Flames were the better team by far, and absolutely dominated the Sabres from that point on. They scored four goals in the second period, three more in the third, for a total of seven unanswered. The game ended with a 7-2 score, seven Flames recording multiple points.

Jakob Pelletier scored his first NHL goal as well, which prompted a cute instagram story from Jonathan Huberdeau in which he referred to Pelletier as “my son.”

The Flames desperately needed this one, and are keeping pace in the Western Conference wild card race.

Charts from the game are below.
