The Calgary Flames embarked on a four-game Eastern Conference road trip beginning in New York with a tilt against the Rangers. Coming off a nine-day break due to the 2023 NHL All-star weekend, the Flames looked to grab a vital two points in their quest for a berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
This was one of the most entertaining games of the season, league-wide. There were hits. There were fights. There were huge momentum swings. There was overtime. This game had it all.
Ultimately, the Rangers prevailed in overtime on a classically messy overtime winner off the stick of Alexis Lafreniere. The Flames picked up a valuable point and moved into the second wild card spot as a result.
