Hot off a loss in the Battle of Alberta, the Calgary Flames visited the Seattle Kraken on the second half of a back-to-back. Daniel Vladar started in goal for the Flames after Jacob Markstrom started the night before.
The Kraken have been one of the better teams in the Pacific Division all year long. Despite having four games in hand over the Flames, a regulation win for Calgary would see them leapfrog Seattle into third place in the division, which is exactly what happened.
The Flames got the game winning tally off the stick of Jonathan Huberdeau in the third period. It was a close game but the Kraken controlled play at 5v5 for the majority of the contest. They took too many penalties though, and allowed the Flames to stay in the game by shifting momentum with their power play.
All in all, it was a gutsy win for the Flames, who needed it after a tough loss the night before.
