Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 33: Calgary sweeps back-to-back against Sharks with emphatic outburst of goals

The Calgary Flames recently snapped a lengthy losing streak by beating a struggling San Jose Sharks team, and thanks to a weird schedule quirk in the NHL, they went through déjà vu and did it again. In their second straight game at the SAP Center, the Flames poured on seven goals to power themselves to victory.

The game opened with two quick goals from the Flames within the first 30 seconds of the game off of two great plays that caught the Sharks slipping. The Flames were the better team in throughout the game and had good pressure throughout. Unfortunately they allowed the Sharks to stay in it. The teams traded a couple of goals but then the Sharks forced a 3–3 tie early in the third.

However, the Flames responded by scoring two straight goals to push the Sharks to the edge, followed by an empty-netter and one final goal for good measure. In a precarious situation where the Flames were shaken and gave up three goals on 15 total shots, Jacob Markstrom turned a bad situation around and stopped the final 12 shots he faced to completely halt any chance of a Sharks comeback.

The Flames have now scored 12 goals over their past two games to finally get some offence going.

Charts from the goalscoring onslaught are below.
