With the 42nd overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames have selected goalie Tobias Trejbal.
Who is Trejbal?
The first goalie off the board, Tobias Trejbal from Most, Czechia, is easily the best goalie of this draft class. 6’4″, he had outstanding numbers in his final year in Czechia and in the USHL this past year.

Analyzing the pick
One thing to note is that Trejbal is the teammate of the Flames’ 30th overall pick, Jack Hextall. That connection there, on top of his stellar numbers, made him someone the Flames had to get their hands on, trading up to make sure they didn’t lose out on him.

Harrington will be heading back to the University of Massachusetts next season as he continues his development in the NCAA.
