Analyzing the pick
At 100th overall, the Flames are swinging heavily for pure offensive upside. Barabanov is primarily a playmaker and prefers to pass the puck as opposed to shooting it. Grabbing a player who put up 91 junior points in a single season at this stage of the draft is a phenomenal value play. Overall, Barabanov gives the Flames another high skill option down the middle.
What’s next for Egor Barabanov?
Barabanov is committed to the University of Massachusetts in Hockey East for the 2026-27 season, where he will play with fellow Flames prospects Tobias Trejbal and Max Curran.
