Breaking news out this morning as Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season with a hip injury that requires surgery.
A rough season for Huberdeau
Jonathan Huberdeau has had a terrible season for the Flames. He will finish with the worst raw point total of his entire career and has been largely invisible on most nights. Now we may know what contributed to this sharp decline.
A season of injuries
Commentary from many analysts, members of the media, and former players have focused around the rate of injuries occurring this season. Due to the Olympics, the NHL schedule has been significantly condensed this season which many have pointed to as the reason for the increased rate of injuries league-wide.
Hip surgeries are tough on players, especially older ones. This could either fix Huberdeau and rejuvenate his career after a lackluster four years with the Flames, or it could completely ruin it. Here’s hoping for the former.
