Earlier today, it was announced that Calgary Flames prospect Cullen Potter is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. Potter sustained the upper-body injury on January 10th against Miami University.
A tough blow for Potter during an amazing year
The speedy forward was drafted 32nd overall this past June at the 2026 NHL draft. During his draft year, Potter produced 13 goals and 22 points in 35 games with Arizona State University.
This season, Potter would return to Arizona State. His season would start a little slow, but he would pick up the pace and accumulate totals of 12 goals and 26 points in 24 games. That production would see him place third on the team and tie for 20th league-wide. He was also among the top U19 producers in the NCAA.
Although this is a difficult blow to Potter’s year, the season isn’t a complete write-off. The hope was for Potter to take steps to generate production that matched his talent and effort on the ice. With a better surrounding cast, Potter took advantage and surpassed his previous totals in over 10 fewer games.
The injury looks ugly, but hopefully, Potter can return next season fully healthy and ready to continue the incline his career was on this year.
