Two of the Calgary Flames’ top young stars will suit up for Team Canada tonight in their tournament-opening game at the World Junior Hockey Championship. They’ll take on Czechia at 6:30PM.
Canada is looking to avenge a terrible showing last year when they finished third in group play and bowed out in the quarterfinals to Czechia. That team was devoid of high-end scoring talent, while this year’s squad is oozing it.
Big roles
Zayne Parekh and Cole Reschny both made the Canadian roster this year, and both are poised to play big roles for the team.
In their most recent pre-tournament games, both Parekh and Reschny were playing on Canada’s top power play unit and will almost certainly be mainstays in the lineup.
Many have lauded Reschny’s work ethic and motor, and that’s a big reason why he made the Canadian team. Parekh is going to be the offensive catalyst for Canada all tournament long and his skill has been complimented by some of the top players on the team including Gavin McKenna.
Go Canada Go
Good luck to both Flames prospects and Team Canada tonight!
