Welcome back to our series as we check in on the Calgary Flames every seven games. This will run throughout the entire 2025-26 season, as we reflect on the team’s high and low points during that time.
The losses continue to pile on for the Flames. They’ve only won two of their last seven games, and now have recorded only five wins in 21 games. While it shouldn’t come as a surprise, fans hope that the team comes to realize their position and makes the appropriate moves.

The highs
Dustin Wolf recorded his first shutout of the season against the San Jose Sharks, and his fourth shutout of his career. He’s continued to be rock solid despite his numbers not reflecting that. The team in front of him is really the main cause behind his mediocre numbers right now.
Matt Coronato has also begun to show some life. He has four goals in this seven-game stretch, as he’s starting to look like the player the Flames know he can be. Hopefully, this continues.
Devin Cooley also got his first win of the season, as the Flames stomped the Sabres in a 6-2 showing. It’s the highest amount of goals they’ve scored this season so far, as scoring more than four goals is a rare event with this team right now.
The lows
There were quite a number of lows throughout these past seven games. Firstly, top prospect Zayne Parekh sustained an injury during November 7th’s tilt against the Chicago Blackhawks. The team later announced that he’d be out week-to-week. Speaking of the Blackhawks, they’ve outscored the Flames 9-2 during this stretch, with Connor Bedard recording seven points against the Flames so far this season. Unreal.
Secondly, fans remained concerned about what’s going on with Connor Zary right now. The 23-year-old has had a brutal start to the season, having only two points in 19 games. He’s been a healthy scratch, and frankly, has been a non-factor for the team right now. Yes, giving him fourth-line minutes isn’t exactly helping, but Zary needs to find the motivation within him to make a difference.
The same can be said about Yegor Sharangovich, who has no doubt been one of the Flames’ worst forwards so far. He has a measly four points in 17 games, acting as a healthy scratch numerous times. Did I also mention that he’s in the first year of a five-year, $28.75 million contract? Yeah, it’s getting really bad for him. There’s frankly no excuse. Sharangovich needs to show that he has some life; otherwise, he’ll make the Flames’ decision to pay him look like a real bad one. He did have two points against the Sabres, so hopefully things get better from here.
