It’s that time of the year for The Win Column’s NHL draft rankings and draft profiles! Using our consolidated rankings, we will take a look at the top 50 prospects for this year’s draft. The 2025 NHL Draft will take place on June 27 and 28 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Today, we’re going to take a look at Swedish forward Arvid Drott, who has been praised for his agility and diverse skill set.

Known as a power forward with great size and speed, Drott contains much untapped potential. While there are critiques of his game, there’s no doubting his athleticism. Drott has been described as a player who can do a little bit of everything. Assuming everything goes to plan, Drott has all the tools to become an effective NHL regular.
Drott’s strengths
Starting with one of Drott’s biggest strengths, which is his offensive IQ. Drott possesses a great frame, standing at six feet tall and weighing almost 200 pounds. He utilizes his size to be a net-front presence to tap in rebounds and deflections. Drott is especially strong in this role during situations such as the power play. He scored 44 goals last season in the J18 Region and Nationell leagues, further highlighting his offensive capabilities.
Using his size, Drott carries an advantage in protecting the puck for winning scrimmages in tough areas. He also possesses great agility and stamina, which allows him to create opportunities by generating space for himself with his strong skating and edgework.
Drott is also quite effective when it comes to forechecking and pressuring the opposition. He does well in creating turnovers and allowing opportunities to generate for his teammates. In short, he’s not afraid to play in the tough areas of the ice. Additionally, Drott also has quite a competitive level. He’s been praised for his leadership and work ethic on the ice, something scouts largely take into account.
Drott’s areas of improvement
When it comes to offence, Drott knows the game quite well; however, consistency can be an issue. Drott is urged to showcase his skillset consistently instead of in spurts or flashes. That way, he can round out his offensive game better. Drott also needs to improve at creating a high volume of dangerous scoring chances for himself. One way of doing so is improving shooting accuracy and working on his release.
On the other side of the ice, defence can be an improvement when it comes to Drott. At times, he struggles with positioning and tracking the puck. It’s encouraged that Drott engages more in the defensive zone, as it’s something he could excel at, given his competitive nature.
There are also times when Drott can struggle with puck efficiency and management. Whether it’s giveaways or missed passes, Drott needs to improve on cleaning up his handling of the puck in high-pressure situations. He also needs to improve on puck battles, as Drott loses too many puck battles for a player his size. It all comes down to body positioning and increasing strength.
Fit with the Flames
Drott could be a potential option for the Calgary Flames in the second round. However, the Flames have many wingers in the system and would be better off selecting someone with a high upside. Drott has the potential to meet this mark, but a lot of kinks need to be hashed out in his game. If the Flames are looking for a winger with size and a high compete level, Drott could very well be on their list of candidates.
Summary
Drott possesses all the tools to become an effective middle-six forward in the NHL. He’ll likely take some time developing in a team’s farm system, as he won’t be NHL-ready right out of the gate. He projects as more of a complementary player who can be a great depth scoring piece. With that being said, more definitely could be in the cards for this Swedish winger. He possesses leadership skills and, with the right development path, could turn into a rewarding pick. He’s projected to be selected in the mid-second to early third round.
