It has been announced today that Calgary Flames head coach Ryan Huska will be joining MacKenzie Weegar and Zayne Parekh at the 2025 World Hockey Championships as he will be the assistant coach for the team.
Hearing @BlueJacketsNHL head coach Dean Evason will coach Canada at the upcoming Men’s World Hockey Championship. @NHLFlames coach Ryan Huska will also be on Canada’s bench. The remainder of the staff to be determined.

The bench boss getting some love
While I am in the minority of thinking that Huska did not do the best job as the Flames head coach this season (he was mostly carried by the play of Dustin Wolf), it is nice to see him alongside numerous Flames getting some attention as they now have multiple players and a staff member heading to the World Championships.
Huska will coach alongside Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason, who did a marvellous job this season directing the Blue Jackets in the right direction after the Johnny Gaudreau tragedy before the season kicked off. Evason is a fantastic coach who did wonders in Minnesota and seems to be pushing the Blue Jackets in the right direction. Huska should probably listen closely and take some pointers to take back to Calgary for next season.
A tournament to keep an eye on
While the world Championships is always a fun time, this year will have a little bit more for Flames fans to keep an eye with how much representation they will have across the board.
As much as most of us will want Canada to take home gold, I will be intrigued by every team that has a Flame on it, it should be a good time to say the least.
