The Calgary Flames have recalled Zayne Parekh from the Saginaw Spirit

The Calgary Flames have announced that they have recalled defenceman Zayne Parekh from the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit. This was a move that was anticipated for some time, as the Spirit were recently eliminated from the OHL playoffs.

Parekh will now have the chance to join the Flames as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive. The team came up with a 3–2 win against the San Jose Sharks yesterday, and now they’re only four points back of the second wild card spot in the West.

As for when he’s expected in the Flames’ lineup, I’m not too sure. However, there’s no reason why Parekh should be sitting out the rest of the season, as he has too much to give for a Flames team that desperately needs another boost.

It’s about time Parekh sees NHL action

Parekh has dominated the OHL and was considered a “steal” when he slid down to ninth overall. Given all he’s accomplished so far, it’s about time the Flames reward him with NHL games. Now, there’s no need to rush him, but adding a player like Parekh in the lineup would significantly add a boost to special teams and the overall morale. It would also be a great experience for Parekh to play meaningful games down the stretch.

Flames fans have been waiting for this moment, as Parekh is projected to be a star in this league. For a team that lacks elite talent, giving Parekh a look will give fans the chance to see what they’ll be in store for as he becomes a full-time NHLer.

The Flames are set to play their 78th game of the season as they take on the Anaheim Ducks in Orange County tomorrow. Every game at this point is a must-win for the Flames as they look to make the postseason for the first time since 2022. Puck drop will be at 8:00 PM Mountain time.
