Calgary Flames

Looking at this week’s playoff odds for the Calgary Flames

We’re once again checking in on this week’s playoff odds for the Calgary Flames. With the postseason set to start in about 15 days, the Flames still find themselves in a substantial gap from a playoff spot.

The team started the week on a losing note against the Edmonton Oilers in a highly anticipated Battle of Alberta match-up. The Flames would then pull off an amazing comeback win against the Colorado Avalanche, but they would later lose against the Utah Hockey Club, playing them during the second half of a back-to-back road trip. The Flames then returned home and came out with an impressive win against the Anaheim Ducks.

Despite the Flames coming out with points, the team is still, yet again, on the outside looking in. Meanwhile, their competition in the St. Louis Blues keep on rolling…

It’s a tough and stressful rollercoaster for fans right now, which doesn’t have an end in sight. It makes sense that some fans are turning to Tale of Two Strains to help them get through this challenging part of the season.

This week’s playoff picture

Here’s what this week’s playoff odds are looking like as a result of the Flames’ record this week:

With the season ending soon and time running out, this week’s odds for the Flames are quite low. However, odds from PlayoffStatus.com seem to be a bit more optimistic, as it remains the same as last week’s at 16%

However, these odds still average to about 12%, which isn’t an encouraging number. When looking at the wild card race, the Blues have been on fire, winning 11 straight games now. They’ve passed the Minnesota Wild and now occupy the first wild card spot in the west, making their status as a playoff team even clearer. If the Flames want to get back into the playoffs, the Wild are now the team to catch, as there’s a five-point gap between the two teams, with Calgary also having a game in hand.

Looking at Calgary’s next few games, they’ll be playing the Vegas Golden Knights, San Jose Sharks, the Ducks again, and finishing off next week playing against the Wild. Assuming Calgary is still in the hunt by then, that game against the Wild is a crucial victory that they would have to achieve.
