Welcome back to our weekly playoff odds check-in. This week’s playoff race in the West remains tight, and the Calgary Flames are right in the thick of it. Last week, the Flames occupied the second wild card spot but now find themselves barely outside the playoff line.
Yesterday’s impressive comeback against the New Jersey Devils was a game many Flames fans won’t forget. However, while the two points did help, the team still lies outside the playoff line, with the St. Louis Blues currently occupying the final wild card spot.

This week’s numbers are drastically down, as the sites average a 26.2% chance for the Flames to make the postseason. You can recall that the Flames had a 37.7% chance last week, so it shows how much can change over a short period.
The change makes sense, as Calgary hasn’t been playing well over their last few games. Before their win against the Devils, the team went 2–2–1 over their last five games, which isn’t good or terrible but rather mediocre.
The week ahead
Over the next week, the Flames could have some opportunities to squeak out a couple of wins here. Their next two games are against the New York Islanders and Seattle Kraken, but then they’ll be playing the Dallas Stars, a team that’s looking to make serious noise this postseason. It seems like the type of week where Calgary could go a perfect 3–0, 0–3, or a more likely 1–1–1.
