The Calgary Flames are introducing a new name to the fold. After losing Walker Duehr on waivers to the San Jose Sharks, the team is shoring up their forwards by calling up Calgary Wranglers captain Clark Bishop.
The captain gets the call
Bishop has been with the Wranglers since 2022–23, having played over 150 games with the club over the past three seasons. He succeeded Brett Sutter as the second captain in franchise history and has had a stellar season in the AHL.
In 39 games, Bishop has posted 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points—already a career-high for AHL output. He’s had several games with multipoint outputs, including three such instances since the calendar turned over to 2025. He’s definitely playing some of the best hockey of his career and the recall was earned not given.
What’s next for Bishop
Bishop has had some NHL experience back with the Carolina Hurricanes and more recently with the Ottawa Senators. In 47 career NHL games spread across four seasons, he has one goal and seven assists to his name. We’ll see how he slots into the Flames lineup in his first NHL stint since 2021–22 and if he can continue the hot hand he’s been playing with in the AHL.
