Watching the 2024-25 Calgary Flames has been the tale of two seasons. The team has been winning games at home, but the road has been a different story. The numbers don’t lie. The Flames currently post a 1-7-4 record on the road since October 13th, while the team has scored three or fewer goals in 25 straight games now.
Flames don't have a regulation road win since Oct 13 in Edmonton. 1-7-4 since then.

Their only road win since then was a 3-2 OT comeback win in MTL.
They also haven't scored 4 goals in a game since that Oct 13 win in EDM.
Road and scoring issues loom large.
Overall, the Flames post a 3-7-4 record on the road. Meanwhile, at home, their record stands out as being 10-3-1 with a goal differential of +9. Seems like the team has really enjoyed playing at the Dome in front of fans, while the road has been a complete nightmare. Goaltending has also seemed to struggle, as the Flames are averaging a 3.71 goals-against average in away games, compared to a 2.21 goals-against average at home.
The inconsistencies have been massive, and for a team that’s still aiming to be competitive for the entire season, these types of struggles away from home certainly aren’t going to help.
Is this the team the Flames were expected to be?
It really seems like the Flames are falling back down to earth after an impressive start to the season. The contrast between their play at home versus on the road has resulted in lots of confusion on what this team exactly is. While I doubt they’ll be a bottom-five team, nobody had them as playoff contenders.
They currently stand one point outside the second wildcard spot in the West and are within three points of being bottom ten in the league. Yet again, the Flames are currently in that mushy middle, but looking at the way the team is trending, that may change quickly.
The Flames have definitely overachieved this year considering their expectations. However the season is quite long and things can change in an instant, and I think we’re witnessing that change right now…
Flames need to solve their road woes fast
Whatever your thoughts on this team are, the fact that they only have one regulation win on the road is baffling. They’re currently sporting an eight-game road losing streak and are set to finish their road trip in Nashville before heading home for a five-game homestand.
For the sake of ending this trip on a high note, the Flames need to find a way to take advantage of the struggling Predators to get a much-needed win. It’s unknown how much longer their struggles are going to last, but they need to find a way to break through.
It can’t come against a better opponent than the Predators. While tonight’s matchup could very well be a “trap game” for the Flames, Nashville is currently riding a three-game losing streak, and the team has a record of 2-5-3 in their last ten games. It’s been nothing short of a disaster down there. You can expect to catch the game tonight at 6PM Mountain Time.
