Both players have been having strong starts to the seasons so far. Pelletier and Duehr have recorded 19 points in 20 games, and have made strong contributions towards the success the Wranglers have been experiencing this season.
The Flames desperately need an energy boost
Calling up these players is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Flames. The team has mightily struggled these last few games and getting a youthful energy boost could be part of the solution to turn things around.
As for Pelletier, he’ll be getting another opportunity to prove that he belongs with the Flames. The former first-round pick has yet to fully establish himself at the NHL level and was even placed on waivers before the regular season. It’s an important stint for the 23-year-old, as he still requires waivers if the team wishes to send him back down.
The Flames return to action tomorrow, hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets in what promises to be an emotional evening where the Gaudreau family is expected to be in attendance.
