The Calgary Wranglers announced this morning that Clark Bishop had been named the team’s second captain in franchise history.
Following the retirement of Brett Sutter after the 2023–24 season, the Calgary Wranglers started the new season without a captain.
After ten games played this season and on a nine-game winning streak, the Herd have finally named their successor.
Bishop has been with the team since their arrival in Calgary in 2022 and has played in 131 games with the club, making him the fourth-longest serving player for the Wranglers.
Over a nine-year AHL career, the Newfoundland-born player has played in 375 games and has also appeared in 47 NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Ottawa Senators.
The 28-year-old has prior experience as a captain, having led the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL from 2014 to 2016.
The forward has also been on a tear to start the season, scoring six goals and nine points in ten games.
Corralling the leadership group
Alongside Bishop, the Wranglers have appointed Alex Gallant, Dryden Hunt, Jakob Pelletier, and Jarred Tinordi as alternate captains.
Hunt, Pelletier, and Tinordi will be serving for the first time, while Gallant has been an alternate captain since 2022.
