It’s hard to live with no regrets sometimes.
You can try to say “don’t live in the past” or “only look towards the future,” but often that is something many people just can’t get out of their heads.
I am sure that Oliver Kylington and his representatives are feeling this way so far this season. After not agreeing to terms with the Calgary Flames, the team that drafted and protected Kylington for a season and a half while he was away from the team, Kylington signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
Safe to say that the move has not gone well so far for the player, which is culminating with the news that tonight Kylington will be moving to play the forward position for an injury-riddled Avalanche team.
Tough times in Colorado
This idea of playing Kylington at forward was something that was suggested a few seasons ago, just because it made so much sense based on Kylington’s style of play. That being said, it’s hard to imagine that Kylington is thrilled with a new team and now a new position he hasn’t played before.
From all of the rumours, it sounds like Kylington could have remained in Calgary playing a position he knows had it not been for his representation assuming he could cash in on the free agent market.
Kylington has appeared in just two games for the Avalanche this season, his stat line only reads two PIMs and a minus-2. From what we have read from media covering the Avalanche, Kylington looks like a player who hasn’t played much in the last few seasons. His defensive game was always a work in progress, but he looks hesitant on the ice on the offensive end as well.
Perhaps the move to forward is the most genius move the team could make right now or maybe it is just a complete hail mary to find a spot for Kylington who hasn’t played much otherwise. That being said, everyone wants Kylington to succeed. Most Flames fans are just frustrated with how his tenure ended here, but deep down they will always be rooting for him.
