Flames forward Sam Honzek activated off the injured reserve, Adam Klapka sent down to AHL

The Calgary Flames announced today that forward Adam Klapka has been assigned to the Calgary Wranglers and rookie Sam Honzek has been activated off the injured reserve list. Additionally, Honzek appears to be making his return to the lineup tonight against the Utah Hockey Club alongside Blake Coleman and Mr. 1000, Mikael Backlund.

A disappointing start for Klapka

After a very good training camp, Klapka seemed to be primed to cement himself as an NHLer this season. Unfortunately, Klapka was not great in his stint with the Flames as he did spend some time in the press box in favour of Justin Kirkland and Kevin Rooney.

Here is hoping that Klapka can go down to the AHL and find his form like he was producing in the pre-season.

Another big opportunity for Honzek

Many thought it would be Honzek heading to the Wranglers once he recovered from his injury, but the Flames are opting to give him one more opportunity before sending the rookie to the minors.

Honzek has had some good in his game, and there have been some things that he will have to work on. There are no two other players on the roster that will be better to help Honzek work that out than Backlund and Coleman.
