Calgary Flames

Dustin Wolf is having one of the best starts in Calgary Flames goaltending history

The Calgary Flames are having quite the miraculous start to the season. After being projected to be at the bottom of the league by almost every league insider, the team is now 4–0–0 to start the season and one of the few undefeated teams left in the league.

The perfect start, just their third in franchise history and first since 2009–10, has been fueled by many unsung heroes. One of those has to be rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf, who after a number of will-he-won’t-he seasons finally is making his mark on the NHL.

His play this season has also put him in the Flames record books already.

Dustin Wolf’s hot start

AWOOO!

Through his first 20 starts as a goaltender for the Flames, Wolf has the most wins in franchise history with 10.

This puts him in some famous company, including Mike Vernon. Now some other names on the list will turn some heads, but at the end of the day to have that stat just 20 starts into your career is nothing to scoff at.

Wolf has plenty of runway left, but this initial hot start to his career can only inspire confidence in the organization. He looked phenomenal again against the Blackhawks and surely at this rate will have some Calder consideration moving forward.
