Calgary Flames sign Andrew Basha to a three-year, entry-level contract

The Calgary Flames 2024 draft class looks like one of their best.

The team announced on Sunday afternoon that they have signed 2024 second-round pick, and Calgary-born, Andrew Basha to a three-year entry-level contract worth $897,500 per season.

Basha was taken 41st overall in June by the Flames after scoring 30 goals and 55 assists in 63 games for the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2023-24. Projected to be a late first-round pick, Basha fell to the team in the early second round and it was a dream come true for the hometown kid.

He registered one assist in his two preseason games with the Flames, but his performance was more than just on the scoresheet. His speed and playmaking ability should make him not only a projected top-six forward in the future but a fan favorite.

He was recently sent back to the WHL but has already started producing at a PPG pace. This will be a big year for Basha, who will surely get another full season playing with Gavin McKenna in Medicine Hat.
