2024 Calgary Flames Prospect Rankings: Final list reveal

The 2024 Calgary Flames Prospect Rankings are now complete, and all of our profiles are out in the world. Now, here’s the opportunity to peek behind the curtain at how our writers voted and how the results were tabulated.

How the Calgary Flames 2024 Prospect Rankings shook out

Eight of our writers voted on who they thought the Flames’ top prospects were. Each writer voted for their top 15 prospects and gave out two honourable mentions. The totals were compiled, with ties being decided by prospects who appeared on more boards and then by the prospect with the higher total rank. Here’s how the top 15 looked:

15William Stromgren
Honourable MentionsArtem Grushnikov & Ilya Solovyov

All of our writers had the same five prospects in their top five with Zayne Parekh, Dustin Wolf, Matt Coronato, Hunter Brzustewicz, and Jeremie Poirier being the final order. Andrew Basha was pretty close to a consensus number six, with just two writers having him drop below that.

Then things started to get messier. Matvei Gridin was rated seventh or eighth on most boards, with Samuel Honzek, Jakob Pelletier, and Henry Mews being on most boards in the top 10.

The bottom five of the rankings was an interesting mix of players, with Etienne Morin taking the 10th spot due to several higher votes. Aydar Suniev, Jacob Battaglia, Luke Misa, and surprisingly William Stromgren round out the top 15. Stromgren’s rise was fueled by a strong second half of the season and an outstanding development camp scrimmage this summer.

Two defencemen finished with the honourable mentions, with Ilya Solovyov and Artem Grushnikov getting the final two nods.

Adam Klapka, Cole Schwindt, Arseni Sergeev, Cade Littler, and Jaden Lipinski all finished with a vote each, but ended up on the outside looking in. 16 prospects finished without votes this year, including Lucas Ciona and Parker Bell, who finished eighth and ninth respectively in the 2023 Calgary Flames Prospect Rankings.
