The Calgary Flames have found their depth netminder in Devin Cooley.
The Flames have signed Cooley to a two-year deal worth $775k a season. The contract’s first year is a two-way deal that then converts to a one-way in the second year. Cooley is yet another Dan Milstein client.
Devin Cooley’s profile
The Flames had been linked to Cooley for the last few days and his profile of work makes sense for the team that is looking for a depth goaltender to play at the NHL or AHL level depending on where they may need him.
The 27-year-old goaltender has only logged six games of NHL experience, all last year with the struggling San Jose Sharks. It’s hard to look at his record of 2-3-1 with a 4.98 GAA and .870 SV% and make a lot of determinations.
It will be interesting to see how he fits with the team undergoing a significant roster overhaul. Would expect to see Cooley start with the Wranglers, but potentially log some NHL games down the line depending on how the season goes.
Welcome to the C of Red, Devin!
