The Calgary Flames have inked Yegor Sharangovich to a five-year contract extension carrying a $5.75M AAV.
Sharangovich was acquired by the Flames in the trade with the New Jersey Devils in the 2023 offseason for Tyler Toffoli and had a great year, breaking out with 31 goals and 59 points, good for second on the team.

Sharangovich showed some great chemistry with Jonathan Huberdeau this past season and may well be the key to making Huberdeau worth his $10.5M contract. Friends who build Lego together score massive point totals together, the oldest maxim in hockey.
The Belarussian left-hander was never given a serious look in New Jersey, playing only 14:25 per game in his last year in New Jersey and scoring 30 points. The Flames put their trust in Sharangovich last year with 17:18 per game and he rewarded them with the 59 point season.
With a lethal shot, shifty speed, and a creative playing style, similar to Huberdeau, Sharangovich may only be scratching the surface of his potential and is still only 26 years old so out of the gate this looks like a great extension.
