All situations Corsi

- Calgary’s open to the game was textbook. By the time they went up two goals, they had Edmonton completely blocked out of the offensive zone and even got a power play. Edmonton’s momentum was flat until the Flames went and scored their third of the period.
- The Oilers came back into the game with their two goals in response, but once again the Flames took the momentum away and scored two more in the second period.
- By the third period, Edmonton’s pushback was also negated as Calgary didn’t just dial it back but instead stayed in the offensive zone. The long flat line to start the third for Edmonton really put a damper on any potential comeback.

- The Flames were getting goals from around the slot while all of Edmonton’s goals came from within the slot.
- Calgary’s defence wasn’t great at stopping one of the best offences in the NHL from getting through to the high-danger areas, but they didn’t need to be as in this game, the best defence was a stronger offence in the form of goals.
5v5 Corsi

- The game was hardly played at 5v5, but when it was, the Oilers were the chasing team. With score effects and penalties coming into play, the Flames’ 5v5 results were poor in the second period after they got their multi-goal lead.
- However, the third period saw the Flames push back at 5v5 which again thwarted the Oilers’ comeback attempt.

- The Flames weren’t really dangerous at 5v5 in terms of shot locations but they still managed to double up the Oilers in actual goals.
- Daniel Vladar stopping most of the high-danger shots and saving all other types gave him a strong overall showing.
