Calgary Flames forward A.J. Greer out eight weeks with fractured foot

The Calgary Flames have announced that forward A.J. Greer will be sidelined for eight weeks with a broken foot.

Greer injured versus Blue Jackets

Greer was injured in the Flames’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets this week. It was a tough play to watch and Greer went down very hard along the boards and struggled to get back up and make his way to the dressing room.

Greer joined the team at the beginning of the season when the Flames claimed him off waivers from the Boston Bruins. He’s been a fixture on the fourth line ever since and has been one of the most productive waiver claims for any team in recent years.

What’s next for the Calgary Flames

With this injury, it opens the door for another player to be recalled from the Calgary Wranglers, many assuming it will be forward Clark Bishop.

However, both Jakob Pelletier and Kevin Rooney returned to the Wranglers lineup last night in their first games of the season, and after getting back up to speed for a couple games they would be the natural recalls up to the big club.
