The Calgary Flames looked to extend their win streak to five games as they welcomed the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans to the Saddledome. The Leafs had lost four straight games, so two streaks would either extend or be snapped.
Unfortunately for the Flames, Brad Treliving’s team took the win, but not without drama. A game-tying goal from Connor Zary was called back with a controversial review for a hand pass. Unfortunately, no game-tying goal was to be had at all as the Flames couldn’t score again. The Flames were swept by the Leafs in the 2023–24 season series.

Nazem Kadri (PPG) | Elias Lindholm, Jonathan Huberdeau | 15:23 | 1st | TOR 0 – 2 CGY |
Auston Matthews | Noah Gregor, Bobby McMann | 18:24 | 1st | TOR 1 – 2 CGY |
Auston Matthews | William Nylander, Pontus Holmberg | 4:08 | 2nd | TOR 2 – 2 CGY |

Andrew Mangiapane | Mikael Backlund, Noah Hanifin | 17:53 | 2nd | TOR 4 – 3 CGY |
- The Auston Matthews hat trick stung as his first two goals erased Calgary’s two-goal lead, and his hat trick goal was the eventual game-winner.
- Huberdeau picked up two assists for his passing efforts, which have looked much more like the old Huberdeau as of late, much to the Flames’ benefit.

All situations Corsi
- The Flames had a great opening to the game, but Toronto’s four straight goals came when the Leafs pushed with their offence responding to the two-goal deficit.
- The Flames still need to work on getting more shot attempts from in close. As seen in the locations, a lot of shots come from afar as the defencemen like to get involved, but they need to funnel more shots to high-danger areas more effectively.
- The Leafs penetrated the Flames’ defence quite easily as it wasn’t Calgary’s cleanest game in their own zone.
5v5 Corsi
- At 5v5, the Flames outshot the Leafs for much of the game, but the two teams tied at 50 shot attempts each.
- Both teams got two goals at 5v5, and all four goals were in high-danger areas.
- Without the teams’ power plays, the Leafs were the better team at 5v5.
