The Flames put together a decent first period with the Lightning being slow to start the game, but the score would remain tied after one. In second period though, Calgary was stellar and got three goals. The third period did not start off well for the Flames but they were able to hang on for the win.

All situations Corsi
The Flames held the Lightning back pretty well in the first two periods, with Tampa Bay’s first shot attempt coming well into the game. After 40 minutes things were looking good for Calgary. However, the Lightning started the third period much better and nearly had themselves a comeback. Their deficit ended up driving up their shot attempts to surpass Calgary’s, but the Flames didn’t let in another goal after Tampa Bay’s second.
Interestingly, the Flames’ first three goals all had distance to them, and came from all over the offensive zone. A couple of blistering shots beat Andrei Vasilevskiy clean to put the Flames up. It was only the last goal from Connor Zary that came from in close, but it was at a tough angle which happened to sneak past the Lightning’s goaltender.
5v5 Corsi
The game was played mostly at 5v5 with very few penalties, so the same trend of the Flames controlling the first two periods followed by the Lightning coming back in the third is seen here.
Only one goal was scored on the power play which was by Tampa Bay. The Flames had some good shot attempts from in close at 5v5.
