Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 78: Calgary swept in season series against Chicago despite must-win situation

With the Calgary Flames hot on the tails of the Winnipeg Jets, their game against the Chicago Blackhawks was supposed to be a prime opportunity to get two massive points. They were supposed to head into their matchup against the Jets with one of the biggest playoff implication games of the season. They were supposed to do a lot of things—most importantly win against the last place team in the league. Of course that didn’t happen.

The Flames just simply lost the game by making costly mistakes. From Jacob Markstrom letting in goals he should be saving to Nazem Kadri posting arguably two of his worst turnovers of the season, everything that could have gone wrong for Calgary practically did. They seriously captured one point out of a possible six against the Blackhawks, and walked away with no points in the season’s most “must-win” game of all.

Calgary’s playoff hopes now falls to the thinnest of hopes as they faceoff against the Jets tonight. Buckle up.
