The Calgary Flames are simply painful to watch at this point.
After an extremely well executed forty minutes of play, in which Jakob Pelletier, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Mikael Backlund would all score, the Flames blew another 3-1 lead in the third period and lost yet another game in overtime.
There is simply no explaining how poorly executed this team’s game plan is at this point in time, as you can’t expect this many third period collapses to lead to many wins.
Looking back at the game, you can point to the questionable penalty call on Walker Duehr that resulted in the first Vegas goal as the first warning sign. Dan Vladar’s weak goal that made the game 3-2 was the second sign. The final straw came in OT when Backlund decided that while Vegas had the rush, it was a good time to make a change.
This team keeps finding new ways to lose.
