In a battle of two Stanley Cup contenders, the Calgary Flames faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes. Early in the first, it’d be the Hurricanes to score first, and midway through, they’d double their lead. The Flames were served adversity and had to battle back against one the league’s best.
They responded soon after with a power play goal, had a lucky goal go in for them from an impossible angle, and were successful at challenging a Carolina goal by merit of them entering the zone offside. Luck was definitely in Calgary’s favour as they mounted the unlikely comeback.
Jacob Markstrom more than made up for his early-game blunders and kept the Flames in the game right into overtime. It took nearly the whole five minute set, but with just 30 seconds remaining, Tyler Toffoli called game as he was fed a quick pass by Rasmus Andersson right in the slot. The Flames completed the comeback.
